1V-LSD is a new psychedelic substance that is related to LSD and 1P-LSD. It is known to produce near-identical effects. If falls under the chemical class of lysergamide.
1V-LSD is a derivative of lysine, a naturally occurring amino acid. Lysine is also responsible for many of the functions in the human brain, including heart tissue, muscle control, nerve functioning, and balance.
1V-LSD is a research chemical that was first discovered in 2021. The drug was created by Dr. Allen Ginsberg and his wife, Betty. They began experimenting with this compound in their garage, testing out various dosages over time. This resulted in the successful synthesis of many other drugs including ‘acid’ and ‘acyclamidine’, as well as the now infamous ‘acid’ aka acid rain. They are now well known for bringing this unique drug to the world’s attention.
According to user reports, the subjective effects of 1-V-LSD are similar to those of LSD and 1P-LSD. Its chemical structure also suggests that it could be a prodrug. If 1V LSD is used by humans, what happens is that a special type of enzyme in the human brain is accidentally ‘turned on’ when one takes in enough of this acid. Then, the brain actually works to rid the body of excess acid, causing what is often referred to as a ‘trip’. Some people who take in large amounts of the drug experience an extended state of consciousness, where they seem to be almost tripping over themselves, or even in some cases, experience tunnel vision.
This isn’t the only acid in the drug that makes for a ‘trip.’ The other acid in the drug – hydroxethylamine – has the effect of producing a mild form of amnesia, similar to that which comes with drinking beer. The user may not remember any of the events that they have been through during the brief fluff of the trip, but they do remember the time that they were tripping, and that is usually enough for them to remember what they did last night. This amnesia seems to last about six hours, so the user will need to keep at it if they want to remember anything about the trip.
This amnesia does not affect the normal functioning of the brain – only some parts. It is not the same as being in a state of double-consciousness, where the brain is operating in two different minds.
Chemistry
1V-LSD is a lysergamide family member. It is similar to LSD in that it has the same properties as the polycyclic indole LSD group. The tetracyclic ergoline is a characteristic of the ergot alkaloids’ chemical structure. Indole nitrogen is commonly used for modifications in the N1 position. This is because it is easily accessible for various reactions.
Pharmacology
1V-LSD exhibits a partial agonist effect on the 5-HT2A receptor. Its effects are believed to originate from the activation of the 5-HT2A receptors in the brain. 1V-LSD can also bind to a wide range of monoamine receptors. However, there is currently no evidence to support these claims. It has been theorized that 1V-LSD and its acyl homologs are deacylated to LSD by the elimination of valeric acid.
