2-FMA or 2-Fluoromethamphetamine, is a new drug that is made from the active ingredient of Entactol. It was initially marketed under the brand name of “Ecstasy of America”. Its active ingredients are L-betonicine, L-carnitine, N-acetyl-l-ornithine, and N-ethyl-l-glutamic acid. The name was coined because of its chemical structure which closely resembles that of the popular psychoactive substance, ” MDMA”, albeit with a lesser quantity of MDMA.
2-Fluoramphetamine (2-FMA) is a stimulant related to methamphetamine and 2-fluoroamphetamine. Like other stimulants, 2-FMA has stimulant properties which make people feel alert and energetic. 2-FMA is a structurally analog of methamphetamine. It produces its effects through the action of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain. 2-Fluoromethamphetamine is a substituted amphetamine. It has a phenyl ring bound to an amino group, which is an additional methyl substitution.
2-FMA is believed to have the same effects as traditional amphetamine drugs. It increases the levels of norepinephrine and dopamine within the brain by partially blocking the transport protein. 2-FMA is a type of 2-nitromethylene-2A that is commonly used for studying. It has the same effects as lisdexamfetamine but is also very functional.
Little is known about the pharmacological properties of fluoromethoxy-substituted amphetamines. Since 2-FMA has been considered and listed as a component of a designer drug, it can be sold as a “legal high” to substitute for restricted substances. With the hydrochloride structure of the compound it is intended to be used as a standard for forensic analysis of samples that may hace trace of 2-FMA.
