3-Chlormethcathinone popularly known as 3-CMC or chlorpyridone, is a stimulant of the cathinone family. It has been selling online as a designer drug, mainly in European countries such as Italy, Sweden, and Poland. Its chemical structure is closely related to that of the antidepressant and anti-addiction drug bupropion (3-chloro-N-(tert-butyl)cathinone), despite the pharmacological properties of 3-CMC is completely different.

The research chemical 3-CMC is being sold as a substitute for 3-MMC. The pharmacological activity of 3-CMC is similar to that of bupropion, but it does not have the toxicity of the former. The former is not considered a psychoactive drug, but it can be used to treat depression. It is commonly known as clophedrone. Its chemical structure makes it a useful research chemical. Its properties make it a promising candidate for resuscitative and neuroprotective applications.
