A derivative of MDMA known as para-Chloroamphetamine (4-CA) is a dangerous drug that can cause neurotoxic effects. It is commonly used by neurobiologists to kill certain neurons that are sensitive to serotonin and dopamine. This drug is similar to 6-hydroxydopamine in that it can be used to selectively kill these neurons.
It has been identified as a designer drug. Similar to the drug 3-chloroamphetamine, para-Chloroamphetamine can also be used to release serotonin and dopamine.
This drug is produced through the conversion of N-methylated derivatives into para-chloroamphetamine. It has neurotoxic properties.
