3′,4′-trimethylene-α-Pyrrolidinobutiophenone, also known as Indanyl-α-PBP, Indanyl-α-Pyrrolidinobutiophenone, 5-PPDi, is a compound under the cathinone class. Initially, 5-PPDI was tentatively identified as a novel cathinone by NMR, but five different experiments were performed to confirm its identity. This allowed the discovery of five more compounds in the same class. These substances are now used in forensics, drug detection, and other research purposes. Further, more medical researchers are recognizing the importance of this new synthetic analogue. Further research is needed to identify whether 5-PPDI has potential medical or forensic applications.
