Anandamide is a fatty acid neurotransmitter obtained from the non-oxidative metabolism of eicosatetraenoic acid considered as an essential omega-6 fatty acid. Anandamide is also known as N-arachidonoylethanolamine (AEA). Anandamide is a neuroactive chemical that’s part of the body’s natural endocannabinoid system. It can trigger the onset of various physiological processes in the body.
Anandamide is found in almost all tissues of animals. It has also been found in plants. The name anandamide was taken from the Sanskrit word ananda which simply means joy.
Anandamide is a non-oxidative metabolic byproduct of the arachidonic acid. It is produced from the N-arachidonol-phosphatidylethanolamine (PAMP) pathway. The FAAH enzyme is responsible for the degradation of anandamide.
The toxicological and physiological properties of this compound has not been analyzed. Usage of this Chemical should be for research and forensic purposes only.
