The drug Bromazolam, which was first synthesized in 1976, is a triazolobenzodiazepine that has similar anxiolytic and sedative properties to alprazolam. It was first identified as a designer drug in Sweden in 2016. It was marketed as a treatment for multiple conditions.
It is a non-selective agonist of the benzodiazepine receptor site. It has a binding affinity of 2.81 nM at the 1 subtype, 0.69 nM at the 2 subtype, and 0.62 nM at the 5.
