Dapoxetine is used to treat premature ejaculation in men. It works by blocking the serotonin transporter. It’s a member of the serotonin reuptake inhibitor family. Although it’s commonly used as an antidepressant, it can also be utilized for the treatment of sexual dysfunction.
In 2003, the drug was sold to Johnson & Johnson for the treatment of premature ejaculation. It was then submitted to the FDA in 2004.
In the US, dapoxetine is in phase III development. In 2012, Furiex Pharmaceuticals secured an agreement with a couple of pharmaceutical companies for the marketing and sales of the drug in the US, Japan, Europe, and other countries.
Not much is known about the pharmacological and toxicological properties of Dapoxetine. Usage of this Chemical should be for research and forensic purposes only.
