Difluoromethylenedioxyamphetamine, DiFMDA
A derivative of 3,4methylenedioxyamphetamine known as difluoromethylenedioxyamphetamine was developed and produced by Daniel Trachsel and his colleagues. It was designed to be a less harmful alternative to MDEA, MBDB, and MDMA. The goal of this project was to find a non-addictive drug that could be used as a replacement for MDMA. It was hoped that the drug would show better metabolic stability and lower toxicity.
Although the compounds have been studied in animal models to see if they show the same pharmacological properties as their non-fluorinated counterparts, they have not yet been tested in humans. In vitro binding studies also suggest that DFMDA has a SERT affinity similar to that of MDMA. However, there is a lack of bulk tolerance due to the reduced activity of the other idenidenedioxy analogues.
It has been widely accepted that the neurotoxic effects of MDMA are caused by various factors. It is not clear how much less harmful DFMDA and other similar compounds could be produced if they were to be used as a replacement for the illegal substance.
The toxicological and physiological properties of this compound has not been analyzed. Usage of this Chemical should be for research and forensic purposes only.
