4-MeO-α-PPP, which is also known as 4-MeOPPP, MOPPP is categorized as a cathinone. MOPPP is rarely used recreationally. Its use is similar to other amphetamines and stimulants, such as speed and meth. It first appeared as a drug in Germany in the 1990s. Despite this, it did not gain widespread popularity.
In a recent study, the effect of the compound 4-MeO-α-PPP on the transport of serotonin was investigated. The drug was able to decrease the affinity of the receptors for norepinephrine and serotonin by replacing the methyl group with a thiophene group. Its potency and affinity were also decreased by the addition of four-methoxy groups.
