Pyrazolam, SH-I-04
Pyrazolam is a benzodiazepine derivative that was originally developed by Leo Sternbach and his colleagues at Hoffman-La Roche in the 1970s. It was rediscovered and became a designer drug in 2012. Pyrazolam has the same structural similarity as alprazolam and bromazepam. Effects of benzodiazepines include anxiety suppression, relaxation, and euphoria. Pyrazolam is known to produce higher levels of sedation, but less euphoria.
Chemistry
Benzodiazepines are drugs that contain a diazepine ring. The ring is a seven membered ring that has a 2-cyclic core. The ring is fused to a benzene ring, and the two nitrogen constituents are located at R1 and R4. Pyrazolam is also a member of a class of benzodiazepines that includes the fused triazole ring. This ring is also known as triazolobenzodiazepines.
Pharmacology
The effects of benzodiazepines are numerous and can be attributed to their interaction with the GABA receptor site. As this site is the most potent antagonist of gammabutyric acid, its modulation produces the sedating effects of pyrazolam. Benzodiazepines have anticonvulsant properties due to their binding to the voltage-dependent sodium channels.
Pyrazolam is most selective for the 2 and 3 receptor subtypes. It avoids interacting with the enzymes found in other benzodiazepines. Pyrazolam has the structural similarity to other benzodiazepines. Unlike other benzodiazepines, it does not seem to have metabolic effects.
Not much is known about the pharmacological and toxicological properties of 6-APB. Usage of this Chemical should be for research and forensic purposes only.
