Desoxypipradrol, 2-diphenylmethylpiperidine, 2-DPMP
Desoxypipradrol was a drug developed by a pharmaceutical company known as CIBA during the 1950s. It was tested for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy.
Although desoxypipradrol was initially used for treating ADHD, it was later considered a more advantageous drug for other applications.
The main advantage of methylphenidate over desoxypipradrol was its shorter duration of action. It was also more predictable in its development. A similar drug known as pipradrol was then introduced for the treatment of cognitive enhancement and depression.
It is believed that desoxypipradrol is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor that works by blocking the effects of norepinephrine. This compound has the longest half-life of the three piperidines, which means that it has a significantly long duration of action.
Chemistry
Desoxypropradrol is a synthetic stimulant that is made up of the substituted phenethylamine and its additional phenyl ring. It exhibits a long-lasting multi-day action that is rarely observed in other drugs.
Pharmacology
Desoxypipradrol is a reuptake inhibitor that has a high potency and unpredictable dose-response. It has been known to cause psychosis when abused.
The toxicological and physiological properties of this compound has not been analyzed. Usage of this Chemical should be for research and forensic purposes only.
