4-AcO-MET which is also known as 4-Acetoxy-MET belongs to the tryptamine class. It is believed to be an agonist of the serotonin 5-HT receptors and acts similarly to 4-hydroxy DMT. 4-Acetoxy-N-ethyl-N-methyltryptamine is a novel psychedelic substance that can be used as a base drug. It is structurally related to other known tryptamines like 4-AcO-MiPT, 4-AcO-DET and 4-HO-MET. It is believed that this substance can act as a prodrug and has anti-anxiety properties.
Chemistry
4-AcO-MET is a synthetic tryptamine that has a bicyclic indole heterocycle with an ethyl side chain. It is substituted by an acetoxy group CH3COO. 4-AcO-MET is an ester of 4-HO-MET and is a linear ethyl chain bound to the amine of tryptamine.
Pharmacology
This compound can be quickly hydrolyzed into 4-hydroxy-metramine by esterases, but human studies on its metabolic fate are not yet complete. It is believed that the effects of 4-AcO-MET are caused by its partial agonist effect at the 5-HT2A receptor. However, the mechanism that causes these effects is still not clear. It has been hypothesized that this drug is quickly hydrolyzed into 4-HO-MET after being taken into the free phenolic 4-HO-MET. This could explain the subjective effects of this drug.
The toxicological and physiological properties of this compound has not been analyzed. Usage of this Chemical should be for research and forensic purposes only.
