Shipping & Storage Information
alpha-Methyltryptamine is a stimulant that is also considered as a psychedelic under the tryptamine family. It was originally used as an antidepressant under the name of Indopan. As a tryptamine with a methyl substituent at the alpha carbon, the alpha substitution makes it a relatively poor substrate for monoamine oxidase A. It is analogous to amphetamine which is a chemical relation to tryptamine.
Upjohn’s was able to develop αMT during the 1960s. It was used as an antidepressant in the Soviet Union and was prescribed at low doses.
Chemistry
αMT, or -Methyltryptamine, is a synthetic indole alkaloid that is commonly used as a replacement for tryptamine. It has a central structure that is linked to an amino group via a side chain. Its derivatives are known as tryptamines and are substituted with a methyl group.
Pharmacology
αMT is a reuptake inhibitor that can be used as a non-selective agonist and a balanced reuptake reducer. Its effects are believed to be caused by its mechanism of action as a partial agonist. αMT is used as a recreational drug.
αMT acts as a releasing agent of various chemicals, such as noradrenaline, serotonin, and dopamine. It is also weak in-vitro and in-vivo.
Not much is known about the pharmacological and toxicological properties of AMT. Usage of this Chemical should be for research and forensic purposes only.
