Phenethylamine class 2C-I-NBOH, also known as 25I-NBOH, is a new synthetic psychedelic substance that is closely related to the 25I-NBOMe. It has a shorter duration and a slightly reduced potency.
2C-I-NBOH, also known as 25I-NBOH, is a derivative of phenethylamine. It was first synthesized in 2006. It has been studied as a potential drug for the mapping of the 5-HT2A receptors in the brain using positron emission tomography. David Nichols, a professor of chemistry at Purdue University, led the team that produced this substance.
NBOH compounds are not considered active and should only be administered under the tongue and in a manner that allows them to absorb rapidly.
Currently, there is a lack of information about the properties and metabolism of 25I-NBOH in humans. It was only sold as a designer drug in 2011. It is closely related to the 25x-NBOMe series and has been associated with various hospitalizations and deaths. Some users of this substance have reported experiencing unpredictable and highly sensitive effects.
Chemistry
Phenethylamine 2C-I is a derivative of the phenethylamine known as 25I-NBOH. It is a serotoninergic N-benzyl derivative of this drug. The chemical composition of 25I-NBOH includes the methoxy groups CH3O and iodine.
It is structurally different from 2C-I due to a substitution of NH2 with a 2-hydroxybenzyl group. 25I-NBOH is a component of the NBOH family that is composed of a hydroxy ether-bound to a benzene ring.
Pharmacology
This compound is very unique because it has a high selectivity for serotonin receptors. It is also one of the most selective compounds for the 5-HT2A receptor. It has an EC50 value of 0.074 nM, and this makes it more than 400x more selective than the 5-HT2C receptor. Compared to other psychedelics, this compound is also potent.
The toxicological and physiological properties of this compound has not been analyzed. Usage of this Chemical should be for research and forensic purposes only.
