2C-B, 4-Bromo-2,5-dimethoxyphenethylamine, 2cb

2C-B is a derivative of the 2C family that can be used as a recreational drug. It was first synthesized in 1974 by Alexander Shulgin. In his book PiHKAL, Shulgin states that the dosage range for this drug is 12 to 24 mg. It can be sold in various forms, such as gel caps or tablets. While it is primarily a psychedelic, it can also be vaporized or insufflated. This substance is a part of the 2C-x family, which is structurally related to the mescaline. Its mechanism of action is not fully understood. However, it is believed that the activity of this receptor is mainly involved in the binding of serotonin.

In 1974, Alexander Shulgin, a chemist in the US, discovered 2C-B, which is a derivative of mescaline. It was initially used by a small group of American psychotherapists as a therapeutic aid. It had a relatively mild nature and short duration.

After it was discovered, it was used recreationally. It was marketed under the names “Nexus” and “Erox” in adult video stores and “head” shops, and it was eventually scheduled for federal regulation in 1995.

The effects of 2C-B include a variety of subjective effects such as time distortion and euphoria. User reports state that it has a moderate and warm feeling, and it is similar to mescaline in that it focuses more on the tactile and visual domains. Compared to other psychedelic drugs, such as psilocybin and LSD, 2C-B is perceived as less serious.

The effects of 2C-B are reported to be useful in enhancing one’s aesthetic and sensory experience. On the other hand, larger doses can also produce a distinct mind-altering effect.

Although more research is needed to confirm the effects of 2C-B, it is generally believed that it is safe to use. This drug has a similar safety profile to classical psychedelics, which means that it can be safely used by people without experiencing severe side effects. However, some individuals may experience severe anxiety or paranoia.

The History of 2C-B

In 1974, Alexander Shulgin, a US scientist, tested 2C-B, which was a derivative of mescaline, for psychoactivity. He was investigating the potential of various psychedelic compounds.

His findings about 2C-B were published in 1991 in PiHKAL, which was a book about the various compounds that are commonly used in the production of psychedelic drugs. Among the other compounds that he listed down were mescaline, 2C-B, DOM, 2C-E, and 2C-T-7. In interviews, he repeatedly stated that 2C-B was his favorite type of psychedelic trip.

During the 1970s, 2C-B was commonly used by psychotherapists in the US to treat their patients. They noted that it helped them break down their inner resistances and improve their relationship with their clients. The therapeutic properties of 2C-B were also found to be desirable. Besides its short duration and mild side effects, 2C-B also helped patients get in touch with their suppressed emotions.

After gaining popularity within the psychotherapy community, it became a popular recreational drug. Users regarded 2C-B as an alternative to MDMA in clubs and raves due to its euphoric effect and minimal side effects.

During the 1980s and 1990s, foreign companies started manufacturing 2C-B under the names of “Nexus,” “Erox,” and “Performax.” These products were then sold in various places such as adult book stores, nightclubs, and head shops. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) reported that the substance was being distributed in Miami.

Due to its use as an alternative to MDMA, 2C-B became more popular in the US. In 1985, it was placed on the Schedule I substance list. Due to its popularity, 2C-B was also included in the list in 1995. During the 2000s, 2C-B started to gain popularity due to the emergence of the darknet markets and the research chemicals industry.

In Southern Africa, 2C-B was legally sold from 1993 to 1996. It was marketed as a treatment for traditional healers known as “Ubulawu Nomathotholo.”

Chemistry

2C-B is considered as a substituted phenethylamines. Phenethylamines are organic compounds that are based on the structure of a phenethylamine, which is a phenyl ring that is bound to an NH2 group using an ethyl chain. 2C-B is a derivative of this class of compounds that has various functional groups. These include the bromine atom and the methoxy functional groups CH3O and R2.

2C-B belongs to a family of compounds known as phenethylamines. These compounds have various functional groups and are composed of methoxy groups on the benzene ring.

Pharmacology

Unlike most psychedelics, 2C-B is not considered to be a fully effective drug. It is believed that the 5-HT2C receptor is the main mechanism by which this substance affects the effects of users. It has also been suggested that 2C-B can increase the levels of dopamine in the brain, which could contribute to its psychoactivity.

The toxicological and physiological properties of this compound has not been analyzed. Usage of this Chemical should be for research and forensic purposes only.
