4-acetoxy-DMT, 4-AcO-DMT, psilacetin, O-Acetylpsilocin, Acetylpsilocin
O-Acetylpsilocin is a semi-synthetic drug that has been used to treat psilocybin intoxication. It is also believed to be a potential alternative to psilocybin. Other names of this chemical may include Psilacetin, Synthetic shrooms, 4-acetoxy-DMT. Although it is commonly used as a treatment for psilocybin intoxication, it has its own subjective effects. Some users prefer it over the natural mushroom because it has fewer negative side effects.
Psilocin, which is also known as O-Acetylpsilocin, was patented in 1963. Despite this, its use has a limited history. It’s believed that psilocin is a prodrug that can be used naturally in hallucinogenic mushrooms. Also, psilocybin is an O-acetylated compound that can be used as a treatment for nausea.
The patent for psilocin and other related compounds was granted to Albert Troxler and Franz Hofmann on January 16, 1963. Despite this, psilacetin has a limited history of use. It is believed that it could be a prodrug of psilocybin, which is naturally found in fungi which can be found in various types of hallucinogenic mushrooms.
Due to the acetyl moiety’s deacetylation in acidic conditions, it is referred to as O-acetylated psilocin. On the other hand, O-phosphorylated psilocybin is known to be useful in treating various conditions.
Chemistry
O-Acetylpsilocin is a semi-synthetic compound that can be obtained by acetylating psilocin in acidic conditions. It is considered a prodrug and believe to be psychoactive. O-acetylpsilocin is more resistant to oxidation than psilocin. It is also not as difficult to produce as psilocybin. Further studies on the effects of O-acetylpsilocin have been initiated due to its similarity to the action of psilocybin.
Pharmacology
psilocin is an acetylated substance that is commonly used in the body to deacetylate O-acetylpsilocin. This substance is also active in the liver. The effects of psilocin on different users vary. Some report that its effects are similar to that of acetylated psilocin, while others suggest that it lasts longer.
Most users also report feeling nausea and less body load when using psilocin. However, others noted that its effects are similar to those of DMT. Psilacetin’s effects could also vary depending on how psychoactive it is. However, there are no controlled clinical studies that have examined the substance’s phenomenological effects.
The toxicological and physiological properties of this compound has not been analyzed. Usage of this Chemical should be for research and forensic purposes only.
