4-HO-MiPT, Miprocin, 4-hydroxy-N-methyl-N-isopropyltryptamine.
When people hear the word “psychedelic,” they often think of magic mushrooms or LSD. But 4-HO-MiPT is the lesser known tryptamine, or serotonergic psychedelic. It is similar to LSD and mescaline, and has the same effects on the brain. The synthetic substituted aromatic compound is similar to mescaline. Nevertheless, the drug may be more useful in some circumstances than others.
4-Hydroxy-N-isopropyltrypamine is a new type of psychedelic substance that produces psilocybin effects. It belongs to the class of psychedelic substituted tryptamines which may include 4-HO-DiPT, 4-AcO-DMT and 4-HO-MET. MiPT is a type of synthetic substituted aromatic compound that is believed to be a psychedelic drug. Its molecular structure and effects resemble those of psilocin and LSD.
While it is an analogue of the psilocin molecule, the pharmacological activity of 4-HO-MiPT is quite different. It has a similar effect on the brain as psilocin, and is not recommended for in-vivo tests on humans and it is a forensic drug. The chemical structure of 4-HO-MiPT fumarate leads to a two-dimensional network parallel to the (01) plane. Water molecules from either side of the carboxylic acid hydrogen bond with the same oxygen atom of the anion. This results in the formation of a two-dimensional network of molecules. In contrast, the psychedelic effect of psilocybin mushrooms is much more pronounced, and people who experience it often have trouble sleeping or concentrating.
This chemical is relatively rare, and possesses a very brief history. Although it has been used for recreational purposes, its short history makes it a thrilling composition for researchers. Its effects on the brain are not physically addictive and many users report feeling “self-regulating.”
Despite its potency, 4-HO-MiPT is not considered a psychoactive drug. Its effects are limited to enhancement of the senses and vivid closed-eye images. Its toxicity is unknown, but it is not a risk to recreational users. It is not a benzodiazepine or a marijuana derivative. It is a protonated tryptammonium cation that is able to induce a hypnotic effect. The first synthesis of 4-Ho-MiPT was conducted in 1981. It was described as the most interesting of the three-dimensional models that can be used for hallucinogenic effects.
Chemistry
4-H-MiPT is a synthetic indole hydroxy-N-methyl-Stryptamine that is commonly used as a precursor of tryptamine. It exhibits a central structure composed of a bicyclic indole heterocycle and a hydroxyl group. Miprocin is the 4-hydroxyl analog of N-methyl-N-isopropyltryptamine. This chemical can be commonly used as an alternative to 4-hydroxy-DMT.
Pharmacology
It is believed that 4-HO-MiPT’s effects are caused by its partial agonism of the serotonin receptors (5-HT2A and 5-HT1A). However, the mechanism of its psychedelic effects are still not clear. 4-HO-MiPT is an asymmetric serotonergic psychedelic. It is structurally similar to psilocybin and has the same pharmacological effects.
The toxicological and physiological properties of this compound has not been analyzed. Usage of this Chemical should be for research and forensic purposes only.
