N,N-diisopropyltryptamine, Diisopropyltryptamine, DiPT
Diisopropyltryptamine is a hallucinogenic drug that has a unique effect. While most hallucinogens are focused on the visual sense, DiPT is mainly used as aural drug. DiPT is a lesser-known psychedelic compound. It is a structural analogue of DMT and is related to various tryptamines. The first human trials of diPT were conducted in 1975. Alexander Shulgin, who would later co-author a paper on the topic, sold it as a research chemical in 1997.
Unlike most psychedelics, diPT has no vivid visual distortions. Instead, it has been reported to have a negative effect on the perception of pitch. It is also known to cause hallucinations and mild visual hallucinations.
Due to the nature of its effects and the lack of data on its pharmacological properties, it is highly recommended to avoid using DiPT.
Chemistry
DiPT is a synthetic indole alkaloid that belongs to the tryptamine class. It has a bicyclic indole heterocycle attached to an amino group. DiPT contains two groups bound to the amine RN of tryptamine. These groups are 3 carbon chains that are bound to the chemical structure.
Two of these groups are bound to the amine’s amine RN using an isopropyl chain. DMT is similar to DMT in that it has two methyl groups and two isopropyl groups.
Pharmacology
Although the effects of DiPT are believed to originate from its interaction with the 5-HT2A receptor, the exact interactions that causes the psychedelic effects remains unclear.
Not much is known about the pharmacological and toxicological properties of 6-APB. Usage of this Chemical should be for research and forensic purposes only.
