2C-T-2, 2,5-Dimethoxy-4-ethylthiophenethylamine, 2C T 2
2C-T-2 is a type of entactogenic and psychedelic phenethylamine that was first synthesized in 1981. It is regarded as one of the most important compounds in the 2C family. Its pharmacodynamic and structural properties are similar to those of 2C-T-7.This substance is a part of the 2C-x family of phenethylamines, which were modified using the mescaline molecule.
In 1981, Alexander Shulgin first synthesized and tested 2C-T-2 for human activity. It is a member of the so-called magical half-dozen, which refers to the various phenethylamine compounds that Shulgin developed and produced. Except for mescaline, all of these compounds are self-rated. The first book of PiHKAL, which is about Shulgin’s work on phenethylamines, features these compounds.
According to some reports, 2C-T-2 is a highly sensitive psychedelic substance that can induce unpredictable body loads.
There is currently a lack of data regarding the effects of 2C-T-2 on human behavior and the metabolism of the substance. Also, reports indicate that its physical effects can be severe for people who are not used to the effects of psychedelics. It is important to avoid using this substance as it can cause severe effects.
After the initial results of a study conducted on 2C-T-2 were positive, Myron Stolaroff, a prominent psychedelic scientist, carried out a follow-up study to look into the effects of the substance on psychotherapy. He found that it helped facilitate an emotional opening and allowed patients to explore their thoughts and feelings. The forty participants who participated in the study reported that the drug helped them feel more comfortable and open to their thoughts.
Chemistry
2C-T-2 is a type of phenethylamine that features a phenyl ring bound to an NH2 group through an ethyl chain. It belongs to the 2C family of compounds and is also substituted for R4 with an ethyl thioether group.
2C-T-2 is structurally similar to 2C-T-7. However, the length of the alkane chain affects the functional group of this compound.
Pharmacology
Although the exact mechanism of action of 2C-T-2 is not well known, its entheogenic and hallucinogenic effects are most likely due to its ability to act as a partial agonist of the 5-HT2A receptor. Other psychedelic compounds, such as tryptamines and phenethylamines, also have this mechanism of action.
Although there are no known scientific experiments that can confirm the mechanism of action of 2C-T-2 against the 5-HT2A receptor, various compounds, such as phenethylamine derivatives and 2,5-desmethoxy compounds, are known to be capable of acting as selective monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A) inhibitors. Because of this, many of the amphetamine-analogs of 2C-T-2 have been found to have high selectivity.
The toxicological and physiological properties of this compound has not been analyzed. Usage of this Chemical should be for research and forensic purposes only.
