4-HO-DET, Ethocin, 4-hydroxy-diethyl-tryptamine, CZ-74

Ethocin, also known as 4-Hydroxy-N, and 4-HO-DET are synthetic psychedelic mushrooms that can produce psilocin-like effects when activated. Like other tryptamines, these mushrooms are structurally similar to the psychoactive component of magic mushrooms, psilocin. However, they retain various characteristics such as their duration, visual, and cognitive effects.

The compound was first discovered during the 1950s by Franz Troxler and Albert Hofmann, who were exploring the various compounds that were structurally related to the active substances found in magic mushrooms. It was then used in human clinical trials during the 1960s.

Since its discovery, 4-HO-DET has remained relatively rare, with little documentation of its use in humans. Most people who use psychedelic drugs prefer to use psilocybin and psilocin instead, and this is why it is commonly used as an entheogen or recreational substance.

Chemistry

Tryptamines are a class of indole alkaloid molecules that share a core structure that consists of a bicyclic indole heterocycle and an ethyl side chain. 4-HO-DET is a synthetic version of this molecule. It is also produced by two ethyl chains that are bound to the amine RN of the tryptamine.

4-HO-DET is the lower homolog of the 4-hydroxy analog of DET, as well as the diethyl homolog of the 4-HO-DMT.

Pharmacology

4-HO-DET is a 5-HT2A partial agonist that can exert its psychedelic effects. It is structurally related to tryptamines.

The interactions between 4-HO-DET and other drugs remain an enigma. Understanding how these effects manifest in the psychedelic experience is still a scientific mystery.

The toxicological and physiological properties of this compound has not been analyzed. Usage of this Chemical should be for research and forensic purposes only.
