2C-I is a derivative of the 2C family of phenethylamines. Alexander Shulgin first synthesized it in 1991 in his book PiHKAL. It is commonly used as a recreational drug and is referred to as psychedelic. It was also sometimes confused with another chemical cousin known as 25I-NBOMe.
In 1976, Alexander Shulgin first synthesized 2C-I, which he referred to as a “very active” and “colorful” chemical. In his 1991 book PiHKAL, he described it as a substance that doesn’t provide a lot of insight or progress toward a better understanding of the universe.
It was initially used as a replacement for 2C-B in various smart shops during the 1990s and 2000s. It also had a history of being sold as a research chemical online before it was scheduled to be produced.
2C-I is commonly used recreationally for its psychoactive effects. It has also been studied as a potential stimulant. It can be found in the 1-8mg range.
There is currently not a lot of data regarding the effects of 2C-I on humans. It is also sometimes confused with the analogue form of this substance, which is referred to as 25I-NBOMe. Caution should be taken when using this substance.
