2C-T-21, 4-(2-fluoroethylthio)-2,5-dimethoxyphenethylamine, 2C T 21
2C-T-21, also known as Aurora or 2D-T-21, is a type of phenethylamine that can produce psychedelic effects when ingested. This substance is a part of the 2C-x family of compounds, which were modified through the synthesis of a mescaline molecule.
Alexander Shulgin first synthesized 2C-T-21, which was documented in his book PiHKAL. It is described as a clear-headed and relaxed substance that exhibits a lack of appetite suppression. In his book, Myron Stolaroff referred to it as a wonderful energizer, and it also exhibited mild visual effects. The dosage range for this substance is 8–12 mg.
In March 2004, a 22-year-old man from California died after accidentally consuming an unknown amount of 2C-T-21. His death was part of a two-year investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). During this time, 10 individuals were apprehended as part of the operation “Operation Web Tryp.”
There is currently no reliable data regarding the effects of 2C-T-21 on humans. Due to its relatively unknown pharmacological properties, it has been commonly used in experimental psychotherapy and recreation. It is also strictly advised to avoid using this substance in combination with other harmful substances.
Chemistry
2C-T21 is a substituted phenethylamine that is composed of a phenyl ring that is bound to an NH2 group through an ethyl chain. It has various methoxyfunctional groups. These include those belonging to the CH3O and CH4O groups.
2C-T21 is part of the 2C group of phenethylamines. It has the various methoxyfunctional groups that are found on the 2 and 5 sides of the benzene ring.
Pharmacology
The effects of 2C-T-21 are believed to be due to its ability to stimulate the 5-HT2A receptor. However, the exact mechanism by which this drug can trigger a psychedelic experience remains unclear.
Although the exact mechanism by which 2C-T-21 can trigger entheogenic and hallucinogenic effects is not known, it is believed that it can be triggered by the 5-HT2A receptor’s activity in the brain. This mechanism is similar to that of other hallucinogenic drugs, such as phenethylamines and tryptamines.
This subtance is structurally similar to 2C-T-7 and 2C-T-2, also believe to be characterised by MAOI properties
