5-Methoxy-N,N-diisopropyltryptamine, sometimes called Foxy Methoxy, is a derivative of diisopropyltryptamine and also known as a psychedelic tryptamine. This tryptamine is a novel class of psychoactive substances that can produce psychedelic effects. It is related to the structure of 5-MeO-MiPT and DiPT.
In 1975, Alexander Shulgin conducted the first human trials of 5-MeO-DiPT. He would later co-author a paper about the synthesis and psychopharmacology of the drug in 1981. The report of these trials is featured in his 1997 book “Tryptamines I Have Known and Love”.
According to some users, the effects of 5-MeO-DiPT are highly entactogenic and stimulate the senses. They also report strong sexual and physical effects, which are often accompanied by higher doses. Some users additionally report hearing distortion, which is similar to what’s seen with DiPT.
Although 5-MeO-DiPT is relatively unknown, it has a limited history of human use and can be safely used. It can be purchased online as a research chemical. It should be used only if accompanied by harm reduction techniques.
Chemistry
5-MeO-DiPT is a synthetic indole alkaloid that is used as a component of the tryptamine class. Like other tryptamines, it has a core structure consisting of a bicylic indole heterocycle that is attached to an ethyl side chain. It is substituted for this by a methoxy functional group CH3O.
Pharmacology
The mechanism by which 5-MeO-DiPT produces entheogenic and hallucinogenic effects is believed to be related to the 5-HT2A receptor agonism. Other potential mechanisms of action include the MAOI and monoamine oxidase inhibition. Although the exact role of these interactions in the psychedelic experience remains unclear, it is widely believed that they play a role.
The toxicological and physiological properties of this compound has not been analyzed. Usage of this Chemical should be for research and forensic purposes only.
